A new in-depth study of the theological works by Philodemus.

A new in-depth study of the theological works by Philodemus.

This project examines Philodemus’ theological writings within their historical-philosophical context, highlighting his role in Hellenistic debates and deepening understanding of Epicurean and other ancient theologies through new LACUNA research.

Development of Theion, an innovative software tool based on Natural Language Processing (NLP) models, designed to assist the papyrologists in the text reconstruction of Herculaneum fragmentary papyri.

The LACUNA project digitizes and transcribes Knut Kleve’s archive using advanced tools to preserve, publish, and make accessible his unpublished research on Herculaneum papyri and Epicurean theology.

The research team of the University of Naples Federico II brings together interdisciplinary expertise in papyrology, classical philology, digital humanities, and the history of ancient philosophy.

The project will produce scholarly publications (books and articles), and foster academic exchange through conferences, seminars, and workshops dedicated to Herculaneum papyri, AI methodologies, and Epicurean philosophy.
